Academic Divisions

Senior Directors of Development (SDODs) provide leadership to each of Caltech's six academic divisions. These highly experienced gift officers are charged with the responsibility of getting to know the divisions and their associated campaign priorities in such a way that they can build relationships and solicit gifts on behalf of the division as well as serve as the division's liaison with other fundraisers and advancement staff.

Donor Events

AAR's Donor Events team creates and implements events and programs that sustain and reinforce relationships with the Institute's key constituencies. Events staff take the lead in planning events, advising clients and campus partners on venue/décor/programmatic selections, coordinating event logistics and providing on-site management, and conducting post-event meetings to assess successes and identify areas for improvement toward achieving strategic goals. Foundation Relations

The Foundation Relations program links faculty members and administrators to foundations and other nongovernmental philanthropic organizations to help further Institute initiatives, programs, and priorities. The office plays a central role in establishing, coordinating, and maintaining Caltech's relationships with private foundations. The office also provides support for all aspects of foundation solicitation, from initial contact through proposal submission, post-award management, reporting, and other forms of stewardship. Office of Gift Planning

The Office of Gift Planning facilitates bequests and life-income gifts that provide long-term support for the Institute as well as other complex or non-traditional gifts such as real estate, closely held stock, gifts-in-kind, and establishing charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts. In addition to the program's frontline fundraising and stewardship activities, the Office of Gift Planning manages Caltech's planned giving donor legacy society—the Torchbearers of Caltech.
